How I Conquered a Lifelong Fear
Orlando, Florida. Disney World. Space Mountain. My lifelong nemesis.
When I was 7 years old, I rode it for the first time with my dad. But it wasn't the fun ride I was expecting. A seatbelt mishap caused me to nearly fall from the car we were in, traumatizing me to no end.
My mother described me as green when I got off ride, and since that time I've not only been afraid of roller coasters in general, but terrified of Space Mountain.
Living in South Florida has offered me MANY opportunities to return to Disney World and the home of Space Mountain... the Magic Kingdom. In high school, college, grad school, and especially in the years after I got married and had 2 kids of my own.
But every time, and I mean EVERY TIME, I avoided going on Space Mountain. I always came up with some ridiculous excuse that I'm sure my friends weren't buying. And for the first 7 or 8 years of their life, my kids were either too small or had no interest in such a ride....

Today everything changed. Today I was forced to face my fear. An irrational fear, yes, but, in my mind, a very real fear.
Watch the short video below to see why I was forced to face my fear and what happened...
I did it!

There's really no feeling like facing, and overcoming, fear. Any fear, really. But the bigger it is, and the longer you've been carrying it around, the more amazing it feels to conquer it. And today was a big one.
That's true in personal life as well as business. Whatever you've been fearing, whatever you've been avoiding....
...do it. Do it at the first opportunity you get!
There's nothing worse than living with regret, and there's nothing better than doing something even though you were afraid of it!
You will grow as both a person and a leader, and you will have more confidence, more posture and, ultimately, more success.
Remember, successful people are willing to do what unsuccessful people are not!
